Corinth Street Alteration

Residential

This addition to a 1963 house by Vladimir Cacala retains the entirely of the existing dwelling and creates an attached apartment that extends the compositional intentions of the original. Separated by a small glazed link, the new form hangs a precise white volume within a second larger volume. This, in turn, is pared back to reveal the original house and a mural referencing its era. Details from the '60s house are reinvented in the soft black zinc cladding of the new.

The newly renovated living room is a celebration of colour and minimalist forms. Its a delightful update to the original house, designed originally in the 1960's – Corinth Street Alteration / Daniel Marshall Architects
